About this shelter
Aapaw in San Antonio, TX
AAPAW is a coalition of animal rescues and shelters serving San Antonio, Texas, located in Bexar County, roughly 9 miles southwest of the city, alongside 14 other animal shelters and rescues in the county. The organization helps connect the community with resources for finding homes for strays and unwanted pets, operating under the philosophy "Care - Adopt - Neuter." Because member rescues and shelters are frequently at or beyond capacity due to high pet overpopulation from unspayed and unneutered cats and dogs, AAPAW emphasizes spay/neuter events and adoption drives to help open up space for animals in need. Adopting through an AAPAW-member shelter or rescue is framed as saving two lives: the pet adopted and the pet that can then take its place in care.
