About this shelter

Brookings Regional Humane Society in Brookings, SD

Brookings Regional Humane Society is a humane society located about 1 mile north of Brookings, South Dakota, in Brookings County, where two other animal shelters or rescues are also based. Its mission is to improve the lives of companion animals and support those who care for them, and it operates as a limited-admission shelter, asking owners to call or email in advance to arrange surrenders and confirm intake space. Many adoptable dogs are placed in off-site foster homes, so the shelter recommends contacting them ahead of a visit to check an animal's availability. The organization is part of the Hill's Food, Shelter & Love program and feeds all of its sheltered pets Hill's brand pet foods.
