Basset Rescue Crew of the Southeast (BaRCSE) is a rescue organization based in Columbia, South Carolina, located in Richland County, about 1 mile northwest of the city and near 3 other animal shelters or rescues in the county. Incorporated in 2009 and granted 501(c)3 non-profit status in March 2010, BaRCSE is entirely volunteer staffed and managed. Its mission is to rescue and provide necessary medical care to basset hounds in jeopardy of being euthanized, with a goal of growing into a multi-state rescue network across the Southeast able to safely transport and re-home needy hounds wherever loving homes can be found.
