Ryers Farm for Aged Equines in Pottstown, PA
Ryers Farm for Aged Equines is a horse retirement rescue located in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, in Chester County, about 15 miles northwest of Reading, PA. Founded in 1888, it is the country's oldest non-profit organization of its kind, dedicated to providing a comfortable retirement for horses who faithfully served their former owners or were rescued from abusive situations. The horses living at the farm are never worked, sent to auction, or used for experiments—they simply spend their days grazing and living out their golden years as part of the herd, with on-site veterinary care from a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. Five other animal shelters or rescues are also located in Chester County, PA.
