The Delaware County SPCA, now operating as Providence Animal Center, is a humane society based in Media, Pennsylvania, about 10 miles east of Philadelphia, in Delaware County, where four other animal shelters and rescues also operate. The organization offers rescue, adoption, medical care, spay/neuter services, and training for companion animals, with a mission centered on affordable, life-affirming care and strengthening the human-animal bond. It places hundreds of dogs and cats into new homes each year and partners with Francisvale Home for Smaller Animals as part of its broader community services. Its veterinary and behavior programs are open not just to adopters but to the wider community of pet owners seeking affordable care.

Adopting from Delaware County SPCA

Adoption process

Adoptions are first-come, first-served with no holds; applicants complete an adoption form and screening (photo ID showing you're 18+, possibly a lease/mortgage document, and household approval), then meet with a counselor who reviews the pet's fit for your lifestyle, and dog adopters must do an in-person meet-and-greet with any resident dogs.
