Applicants complete an online adoption application, after which vet references are checked and applicants must be at least 21 years old; if approved, they meet by appointment with an adoption counselor to finalize the adoption.

Ahimsa Rescue Foundation is a rescue organization based in Muldrow, Oklahoma, located in Sequoyah County about 10 miles southeast of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Its mission is to provide humane education and to encourage and facilitate spaying and neutering, addressing the reality that there simply aren't enough homes for all animals in need. The organization envisions a world where people meet the physical and emotional needs of domestic animals, moving interactions with animals away from exploitation and harm and toward respect and compassion. Alongside its adoption programs for dogs and cats, Ahimsa operates a low-cost spay/neuter clinic aimed at reducing pet overpopulation and preventing animal suffering.
