Sunrise Sanctuary is an animal shelter located in Marysville, Ohio, in Union County, where three other animal shelters or rescues also operate, about 30 miles southeast of Columbus. A 501(c)(3) non-profit run largely by volunteers, it has rescued and cared for farmed and companion animals for over 20 years, providing lifelong homes to more than 140 animals who were once abandoned, abused, or neglected. Residents include cows, horses, pigs, goats, sheep, and other farm animals, cared for on a vegan sanctuary model that emphasizes compassion and freedom from exploitation. The public isn't open to daily visits but can meet the animals through seasonal Open Barn events and private tours.
