Ross County Humane Society in Chillicothe, OH
The Humane Society is a nonprofit organization led by a Board of Directors made up of community volunteers dedicated to promoting animal welfare. Our mission focuses on the general well-being, shelter, and placement of animals, as well as preventing animal cruelty and overpopulation. We also prioritize education about the humane treatment of all living creatures. The Society operates independently and is not governed or funded by any local, state, or national organization. Founded in 1912, the Ross County Humane Society has consistently been available to assist the community. We rely on the support of members, contributors, and bequests to fulfill our mission. Your tax-deductible donations enable us to save more animals and provide greater assistance to people in need.

Adopting from Ross County Humane Society
Adoption process
Adoption fees vary between $79 and $250. All applicants are required to complete an application. We will verify veterinary and landlord references. After that, the applicant must meet the dog in person. If there are other dogs in the household, we will facilitate an introduction at the shelter and/or offer a five-day foster program to ensure a suitable match. Following these steps, the applicant will need to pay the adoption fee and sign an adoption contract.
