Humane Society of Greene County in Xenia, OH
The Humane Society of Greene County is located in Xenia, Ohio, about 15 miles west of Dayton, and is one of eight animal shelters and rescues serving Greene County. It is an independent, volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit that does not operate a physical shelter; instead, its programs focus on preventing animal abuse and suffering throughout the county, largely through affordable spay/neuter services. Since 2006, its monthly low-cost spay/neuter clinics, held on the second Saturday of each month, have altered more than 11,000 cats, and the organization also assists with livestock welfare cases, such as rescuing neglected donkeys, and helps connect adoptable pets with new homes.
