I CARE (Inyo County Animal Resources and Education) in Bishop, CA
I CARE (Inyo County Animal Resources and Education) is a cat rescue based in Bishop, California, in Inyo County, about 120 miles east of Las Vegas, NV. Founded in 1997, the nonprofit has spent $785,000 funding nearly 17,000 spay/neuter surgeries for pets in Inyo and Mono Counties, believing that prevention is the humane solution to pet overpopulation. It also maintains the Stitch Fund, established in 2002, which has provided $140,000 in veterinary care for ill or injured shelter animals. ICARE operates entirely through volunteers and donations, with no paid staff or government funding, and works closely with Inyo County Animal Services to promote shelter animals for adoption.
