Friends for Animals - Humane Society of Burke County is a non-kill humane society and animal shelter located in Morganton, North Carolina, in Burke County, roughly 60 miles southeast of Charlotte. Founded in 1997 in the backyard of Toni and Ed Davis, the organization moved to its current adoption center in 2003 and has grown into one of the largest no-kill shelters in Western North Carolina. It cares for and finds homes for cats and dogs, and it operates the WAGS Thrift Store to help support its mission. Two other animal shelters or rescues also serve Burke County alongside this one.
