Capital District Humane Association is a humane society based in Mechanicville, New York, in Saratoga County, about 20 miles south of Albany, with nine other animal shelters and rescues also located in Saratoga County. Formed to meet the need for a private animal welfare group serving the Capital Region of New York State, CDHA is an all-volunteer, no-kill 501(c)(3) organization that relies entirely on public support and donations. It takes in animals who are unwanted, abandoned, or otherwise in need, holding them for an unlimited time at no charge to the former owner until a suitable home is found. The organization finds homes for pets, primarily dogs, through adoption clinics and an online adoption application process.

Applicants submit an adoption application and CDHA selects the best match for each dog, then takes a $200 deposit to hold the dog while scheduling a home visit and vet reference check; all immediate household members must be present before approval.
