Adoption Process

We ensure that loving dogs are placed in forever homes with caring individuals and families through a thorough screening process. The process begins with an application that gathers information about the applicant's experience, lifestyle, other pets, and preferences, allowing us to recommend dogs that are the best match for their home. Prospective adopters are encouraged to meet various dogs and bring all family members and existing pets to interact with the dogs they are interested in. Once a suitable dog is chosen, we conduct a routine home visit to assess the environment for any potential hazards, poisons, or dangerous situations. During this visit, we will inform the adopter of any necessary repairs or changes that should be made before bringing the dog home. Adopters commit to providing love and care for their adopted dog for its entire lifetime. If an adopter can no longer care for a dog, we require that the dog be returned to our rescue organization for re-homing. Due to financial and logistical constraints, we do not place dogs outside the Southern California area. The minimum adoption donation is $350 plus a $25 fee for microchipping for dogs over one year old, and $450 plus a $25 fee for microchipping for dogs one year old and younger. This donation, which is tax-deductible as permitted by law, helps cover the costs incurred for the dog's care and housing while in our organization. All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and dewormed.

Service Areas

Our service areas include Orange County, San Diego County, San Bernardino County, Riverside County, Los Angeles County, and additional regions.

German Shepherd Rescue Of Orange County in Newport Beach, CA

German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County (GSROC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing purebred German Shepherd Dogs in need. Operated entirely by volunteers, we do not have any paid staff and rely solely on private donations for funding, as we do not receive government support. The dogs available for adoption are cared for in foster homes and private boarding facilities. Although we currently do not have our own kennel, we aspire to establish one in the future to reduce the high costs associated with boarding the dogs while they await their permanent homes.
