About this shelter

Halfway Hounds in Park Ridge, NJ

Halfway Hounds is an animal shelter located in Park Ridge, New Jersey, in Bergen County, roughly 10 miles southeast of Yonkers, NY, and one of 10 other animal shelters and rescues also based in Bergen County. It is a volunteer-based, 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to giving homeless dogs a "new leash on life" by providing obedience training, behavior modification, and emotional rehabilitation to prepare them for adoption. The organization takes in dogs who have been owner-surrendered or can no longer stay at a shelter, placing each one in a foster home with a customized training program, and new adopters receive a behavior assessment report along with free or discounted training and follow-up support. Halfway Hounds was named one of the top 5 best animal shelters in Northern New Jersey by CBS.
