Applicants submit an adoption application, which is carefully reviewed before a volunteer conducts a home visit to determine suitability, and the collie is then matched with the family based on temperament and lifestyle fit.

Collie Rescue League of New England is a rescue organization based in Canaan, New Hampshire, in Grafton County, about 40 miles southeast of Concord and near 6 other animal shelters and rescues in the county. Serving all of New England and eastern New York since 1987, this all-volunteer nonprofit is dedicated to the preservation and well-being of the Collie breed, taking in homeless and unwanted collies from private sources, pounds, and shelters. Each dog is placed in a screened foster home where it receives full veterinary care, including spaying or neutering, and is evaluated for temperament before adoption applications are carefully reviewed and home visits conducted to ensure the best match between collie and family.
