Adoption Process

Our adoption process is straightforward. Interested individuals can complete a simple adoption questionnaire, which is available both online and in person. In many cases, we are able to facilitate same-day adoptions. The adoption fees are as follows: Kittens (under 1 year) are $175, adults (ages 1-10 years) are $125, and special needs cats or those over 10 years are $50. Every cat is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas, de-wormed, microchipped, and tested for FIV/FeLV before leaving our care. At the time of adoption, the adopter will be asked to review and sign our adoption release form.

Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society in Salisbury, MA

MRFRS is a nationally recognized non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to promoting the health and welfare of feral and domestic cats and kittens through proactive, compassionate, no-kill initiatives. Established in 1992 in response to the increasing population of feral and homeless cats along the Merrimack River in Newburyport, MA, MRFRS began with its Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. Since its inception, the organization has expanded to include an adoption center, a sanctuary for feral and special needs cats, a low-cost spay and neuter program, an emergency boarding service for cats, a barn adoption program for relocating feral cats, the Captain Courageous Fund to assist injured cats, and the Catmobile, a mobile spay/neuter clinic that provides low-cost services at various locations.
