Chesapeake Cats and Dogs (CCAD) is a dog rescue based in Stevensville, Maryland, located in Queen Anne's County, where one other animal shelter or rescue also operates. Founded in 2006, CCAD is a lifetime haven and no-kill organization dedicated to rehabilitating and finding second chances for cats and dogs that have been abandoned, abused, lost, strayed, or surrendered, and it has placed more than 2,000 homeless animals into loving homes through an all-volunteer, donation-funded operation. The organization holds most of its adoption and fundraising events across Queen Anne, Anne Arundel, Talbot, and Caroline counties, extending its reach well beyond its base on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Situated about 25 miles west of Bowie, MD, the shelter continues its mission to end needless pet overpopulation, neglect, and abuse in the region.

Adoption process

Applicants fill out an online Cat or Dog Adoption Application, which volunteers process in the order received (though not strictly first-come-first-served); once approved, a meet and greet is arranged, and an adoption donation ($350+ for dogs, generally $150 for cats) is required to finalize adoption.
