About this shelter

Ace of Hearts in Beverly Hills, CA

Ace of Hearts is a 501(c)(3) animal shelter based in Beverly Hills, California, located in Los Angeles County alongside 124 other animal shelters and rescues in the county, roughly 20 miles north of Los Angeles, CA. Founded by Kari Whitman and named for her rescued American Bulldog, Ace, the organization rescues all breeds of dogs from Los Angeles-area shelters on the very day they are scheduled for euthanasia and places them into loving homes. It operates as a foster-based rescue with a return rate under 1%, offering shelter, medical care, and rehabilitation while running spay and neuter initiatives aimed at reducing pet overpopulation and shelter overcrowding. The organization does not accept dogs from any source other than shelters, and its mission centers on education, advocacy, and giving every dog a fresh start toward a joyful life.
