SpayMart in Metairie, LA
SpayMart is a 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization based in Metairie, Louisiana, in Jefferson Parish, roughly 20 miles north of New Orleans, and shares the parish with 8 other animal shelters and rescues. Established in 1998 to end animal overpopulation in southeastern Louisiana, SpayMart focuses on cats, operating three adoption locations in the New Orleans area along with a Kitten Foster Program that saves more than 450 kittens each year. All of its animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption, and its Seniors for Seniors program pairs senior cats aged seven and older with adopters aged 65 and older. The organization also runs a Spay/Neuter Voucher Program to subsidize surgeries for cats and dogs in the community.
