Louisiana SPCA in New Orleans, LA
The Louisiana SPCA is a humane society located in New Orleans, Louisiana, roughly 3 miles west of downtown, and is one of five animal shelters and rescues serving Orleans Parish. Founded in 1888, it has spent more than 130 years promoting, protecting, and advancing the well-being of Louisiana's companion animals through adoption, veterinary care, and humane law enforcement. Its programs include an award-winning Community Clinic offering affordable veterinary services, a Humane Law & Rescue team enforcing animal laws in Orleans Parish, foster and volunteer programs, and trap-neuter-vaccinate-return efforts for feral cats. As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit not affiliated with any other SPCA or Humane Society, it operates and raises funds on its own to find loving homes for dogs, cats, and other companion animals.
