Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge is an animal shelter located in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, in Carroll County, where 2 other animal shelters or rescues also operate; it sits about 20 miles west of Springdale, AR. Founded in 1992 out of one family's mission, it has grown into a globally recognized sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and providing lifetime sanctuary for captive wild animals, particularly big cats. For over 30 years, the refuge has rescued more than 400 animals from private owners, roadside zoos, and situations of abuse and neglect, giving them permanent care, respect, and a forever home rather than seeking to rehome or adopt them out. It partners with leading voices in animal welfare and conservation and operates its own veterinary hospital caring for its resident animals.
