People For Pets is an animal shelter located in Spencer, Iowa, in Clay County, roughly 80 miles southwest of Sioux City. The shelter's mission is to help pets find loving homes and help people find loving pets, working every day through rescue, care, adoption, and community support to give animals a second chance. In 2025 it received 271 animals, placed 238 into new homes, and helped 112 community cats through its Trap-Neuter-Return program. The shelter cares for both cats and dogs and relies on donations, volunteers, and community partners to cover costs like food, shelter, and medical care for animals in need.
