The Humane Society of Johnson County is a nonprofit humane society located in Franklin, Indiana, working to place homeless cats and dogs in the community into loving forever homes. Two other animal shelters or rescues also serve Johnson County, and Franklin sits roughly 20 miles north of Indianapolis. Beyond adoptions, HSJC advocates for animals through social media outreach and runs active community education programs with schools, youth groups, libraries, and businesses to promote responsible pet ownership. The organization also offers a pet food pantry, a vaccination clinic, and low-cost spay and neuter services, and is currently building a dedicated low-cost spay and neuter clinic at its facility, funded in part by a matching grant from the Johnson County Community Foundation and the Lilly Endowment, with plans to open in winter 2026.
