Pets in Need is a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter located in Ringwood, Illinois, in McHenry County, roughly 30 miles northeast of Kenosha, Wisconsin. It shares the county with 15 other animal shelters and rescues in the local database of organizations. Incorporated in October 1991 and recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, its mission is "To Champion the Humane Treatment of Domesticated Animals." The shelter works to raise awareness about spaying and neutering, educate the public on animal safety for children, and facilitate pet adoptions for senior citizens, while encouraging people to adopt rather than buy from pet stores.
