The Wild Animal Sanctuary is located in Keenesburg, Colorado, approximately 25 miles southwest of Thornton, CO. Its Keenesburg location spans 1,450 acres of natural habitats and is part of a larger network of facilities that together encompass more than 40,000 acres. The Sanctuary travels across America and around the world to rescue captive-born exotic animals—including lions, tigers, bears, wolves, jaguars, cheetahs, leopards, and mountain lions—from abusive and unnatural conditions, rehabilitating them so they can live and roam freely with others of their own kind. Open seven days a week for visitors, the Sanctuary cares for more than 950 animals and features 1.5 miles of elevated walkways so guests can observe the rescued residents in their large natural habitats.
