About this shelter

Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies in Arvada, CO

Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies (GRRR) is a golden retriever rescue based in Arvada, Colorado, roughly 10 miles southeast of Lakewood, CO. The organization is dedicated to the rescue, placement, and public awareness of golden retrievers to ensure they are adopted by people able to provide a safe, loving home. Beyond adoptable goldens, GRRR also cares for dogs with high medical needs through its Golden Angel Fund and finds homes for former breeding dogs. The rescue is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and relies on a network of volunteers and foster homes to support its mission.

Adoption process

Applicants submit an adoption application, which stays active for four months while volunteers try to match them with a suitable Golden; matched applicants attend a meet-and-greet (with all family members and current dogs) at the rescue's Arvada, Colorado location, may have a home visit scheduled, and pay an adoption donation ($600 for dogs under 6 months, $400 for 6 months–7 years, $250 for 8+ years) upon adoption; applicants must be at least 21, dogs are not placed in homes without a fenced yard or with children under 8, and dogs are only placed within Colorado.
