About this shelter

Yavapai Humane Society Equine Center in Chino Valley, AZ

The Yavapai Humane Society Equine Center is an equine rescue located at 3731 N Rd 1 W in Chino Valley, Arizona, about 90 miles south of Glendale, AZ, and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All horse adoptions come with medical and training records, vaccinations, hoof and dental work, and dewormings, and some horses also come with pedigree documentation. Before being placed for adoption, horses go through an ethical training program to learn basic ground behaviors and, when applicable, riding skills, with the goal of ensuring a good match between each horse and its new home. Because the facility is secured and gated, visits to see available horses are by appointment only, arranged by calling the Equine Center directly.

Adopting from this shelter

Adoption process

Adoption is largely appointment-based (walk-ins welcome but may wait); the process includes visiting to meet the pet, an on-site meet-and-greet with an adoption counselor, discussion of the animal's background, and about 30 minutes of paperwork including microchip registration; adopters must be at least 18 with photo ID, and renters must show a lease allowing pets.
