The Town of Woodbury Animal Shelter, located in Woodbury, New York, about 30 miles south of Paterson, NJ, is open seven days a week from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The shelter is maintained by the town's Animal Control Officers, who patrol Woodbury and pick up stray dogs, housing them at the shelter until their legal owners can be located, with every effort made to find a good home for dogs whose owners cannot be found. Only stray dogs are available for adoption on a limited basis, since the town does not operate a humane society that accepts unwanted pets from owners. The shelter also picks up stray cats and practices trap-neuter-return (TNR) for feral cats, and it recently received a $490,000 grant from the New York State Companion Animal Capital Fund to help develop a new facility for its animals.
