petRescue in Harrison, NY
petRescue is a volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been helping animals in need for over 30 years. Located at 7 Harrison Avenue in Harrison, New York—about 10 miles west of Yonkers—the rescue is open Saturdays from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. It takes in dogs and cats in need of medical care and rehabilitation, including animals with amputated limbs, dental disease, and other serious injuries, nursing them back to health through its Healing Paws Fund before finding them forever homes. The organization has also coordinated rescue transport flights to bring dogs from disaster-stricken areas, such as flooding in Louisiana, to safety.
