Humane Society of Wayne County in Lyons, NY

The Humane Society of Wayne County is located in Lyons, New York, about 30 miles west of Rochester, and operates as a humane society under NYS registration #163. Established in 1983 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit in 1984, its mission is to provide a humane facility to shelter, feed and care for lost, unwanted and abused animals of Wayne County while promoting humane education; the centralized animal shelter itself opened in 1990 following a 1987 capital campaign. The shelter cares for dogs and cats of all ages, runs a Spay Neuter Incentive Fund (SNIF) with area veterinarians, an Adult Companion Program matching pets age 3+ with adopters 50 and older, and a lost-and-found service, and it relies solely on memberships, fees, donations and fundraisers to operate. It is open Monday and Sunday from 12:00–3:35 PM, Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 AM–4:30 PM, and Saturday from 10:00 AM–4:00 PM.
