It serves as the New York arm of Lucky Puppy Rescue, a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit whose main rescue operation is based in Bonifay, Florida, and whose mission is to transform the fate of rescue dogs by restoring their health, rebuilding their trust, and shaping their behavior through expert care, pack integration, and tailored training. Dogs are transported from the Florida rescue to the Argyle adoption center via the organization's transit bus, funded in part by a 2025 donation from Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, allowing the shelter to move roughly 650+ rescue dogs per year to their Great Beginnings location. The shelter relies heavily on community volunteers and donations to provide food, shelter, and medical care to the dogs awaiting their forever homes.
