About this shelter
Abbe-Freeland Animal Sanctuary in Angelica, NY
Abbe-Freeland Animal Sanctuary is an animal shelter located in Angelica, New York, about 60 miles north of Rochester, NY, and is open 24 hours a day, every day of the week. It operates as a wildlife rehabilitation center, caring for injured and orphaned native species such as beavers, porcupines, squirrels, foxes, birds, and opossums, and has given a second chance to hundreds of wild animals since 1989. The sanctuary's goal is to rehabilitate and release animals back into the wild whenever possible, while those unable to survive on their own, such as a porcupine named Charlie who suffered head trauma after being hit by a car, are cared for at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives.
