Ohio SPCA in Lima, OH

The Ohio SPCA is a humane society located in Lima, Ohio, open Wednesday through Friday from 2:00–7:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00–4:00 PM, roughly 50 miles northwest of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Founded in 1983 and previously known as the Ohio Humane Education Association, the Ohio SPCA is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to rescuing, rehoming, and rehabilitating animals across Ohio, and it is not affiliated with the ASPCA or any other "SPCA"-named group. Its Lima shelter, at 3606 Elida Rd., houses up to 300 cats and 80 dogs at any given time, while a separate farm sanctuary near Grove City provides permanent care for more than 50 rescued farm animals. The organization also runs cruelty investigations, a response team, an equine rescue program, and a low-cost spay/neuter clinic, guided by its motto to "extend your circle of compassion" to all living creatures.

Download and complete the adoption application and email it to the shelter; you'll only be contacted if approved, and dog adoptions require calling to make an appointment while cat adoptions are open to serious inquiries during posted hours; all adopted animals are spayed or neutered unless medical conditions prevent it.
