The Humane Society of Delaware County is located at 4920 OH-37 in Delaware, Ohio, about 20 miles south of Columbus. It is open Monday through Wednesday and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Thursday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. As a 501(c)(3) organization that receives no county, state, or federal funding, it relies on community donations to operate, and has saved more than 11,100 animal lives since 2019, including 1,906 adoptions and 2,180 foster placements in 2024. Beyond standard dog and cat adoptions, the shelter runs a Working Cat Program, a Trap Neuter Return (TNR) program, a public low-cost spay/neuter and dental clinic, a food pantry, senior pet care services, and a Pets and Children Together (PACT) program.

Adoption process

Applicants must submit an adoption application, be 18 or older with valid photo ID, and spend at least 30 minutes meeting the animal at the shelter (or arrange a foster meeting for dogs); adoptions are first come, first served with no holds, and out-of-state adoptions are not permitted.
