Peaceful Pastures Donkey Rescue is a rescue organization located in Lincoln, Missouri, about 60 miles northeast of Columbia, MO. Founded in 2021 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it has taken in over 500 donkeys who were abused, neglected, malnourished, ill, or elderly, providing them with medical, nutritional, and behavioral rehabilitation. Donkeys who can be rehabilitated are adopted into carefully vetted, loving homes, while those who cannot be adopted out are given permanent sanctuary at the rescue. Beyond direct rescue work, Peaceful Pastures also focuses on educating the public about the plight of donkeys in order to change perceptions and treatment of the species.
