About this shelter

Humane Society of Monroe County in Monroe, MI

The Humane Society of Monroe County has served pets and families in Monroe, Michigan since 1954, working to rehabilitate and rehome dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens while promoting responsible pet ownership in the community. Located about 20 miles south of Toledo, OH, the shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. All animals are evaluated and vaccinated in an on-site medical room, and the shelter operates from a facility partnered with the local Sheriff's department, serving as a vendor for the county. Staff are Fear Free certified, trained to handle shelter animals in ways that reduce fear and stress, and each pet is carefully matched with an adopter to give both the best possible start together.
