Hard Licker Ranch and Sanctuary is a dog rescue and sanctuary located in Deerfield, Michigan, about 20 miles southeast of Toledo, Ohio. It was founded by Courtney and David Roberts, who shared a dream of running a rescue where strays and other dogs could live in a large open space to run, play, and simply "be dogs," and they established it as a 501(c)3 nonprofit in July 2021. On the ranch, dogs live in a comfortable, temperature-controlled space surrounded by open areas, including a wooded section where they can roam and play throughout the day. The organization also places adoptable kittens and relies on community support and volunteers to care for its rescued animals.

Adoption process

Applicants fill out an adoption application, the rescue reviews it and follows up, then arranges a meet-and-greet with all household members before finalizing adoption for a $300 fee covering spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and heartworm prevention.
