St. Francis Humane Association is a humane society located in Midlothian, Virginia, about 15 miles east of Richmond, VA, and is open Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Founded in December 1994 as a non-profit 501(c)(3), SFHA is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to finding permanent, responsible, and loving homes for animals while working to prevent cruelty, relieve suffering, and promote responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of all animals. The association focuses on placing cats and kittens, housing adoptable animals through a partnership with two local Petco stores in Midlothian and holding weekly adoption events there. SFHA also works in the community on TNR (trap-neuter-return) efforts for feral cats and requires all adopters to complete a formal application and reside within an hour of Richmond, VA.
