Lake Country SPCA is a 501(c)(3), no-kill humane society headquartered in Clarksville, Virginia, about 45 miles southwest of Durham, NC. Founded in 2002 by a group of local residents concerned about stray animals roaming the streets, the organization now operates from a dedicated facility built in 2015 and rescues over 700 animals per year, finding adoptive homes for an average of 600. As a private shelter, it relies solely on donations, grants, and adoption fees rather than government funding to cover the care of its dogs, cats, and litters of puppies and kittens taken in as strays, surrenders, or animal control holds. Visitors can meet adoptable pets Monday through Saturday from 12:00 to 4:00 PM.
