The Humane Society of Kandiyohi & Meeker Counties, also known as Hawk Creek Animal Shelter, is located in Willmar, Minnesota, about 80 miles east of Brooklyn Park. As a 501c3 non-profit, it is dedicated to assisting abused, neglected, abandoned, and stray animals, while also educating the community on responsible animal care and encouraging the spaying and neutering of companion animals. The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 12:00 to 6:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 5:00 PM, and walk-ins are always welcome, with adoptions facilitated through interviews between staff and the adopting family rather than an online application. Surrendering a pet requires an appointment and being placed on a surrender list first.
