About this shelter

Carolina Tiger Rescue in Pittsboro, NC

Carolina Tiger Rescue is a rescue organization located in Pittsboro, North Carolina, about 25 miles northeast of Durham. It is a 501(c)3 nonprofit wildlife sanctuary whose mission is saving and protecting wild cats in captivity and in the wild, and it is one of the only GFAS-accredited big cat sanctuaries in the United States. The sanctuary's rescued animals come from private owners, mom-and-pop zoos, traveling circuses, and other facilities, arriving as a result of abandonment, relinquishment, or confiscation by authorities, and residents include tigers, lions, cougars, bobcats, servals, caracals, and other species such as kinkajous, coatimundis, raccoons, and porcupines. Open seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Carolina Tiger Rescue offers public tours, twilight tours, and educational programs so visitors can learn about the animals and their rescue stories while supporting the organization's advocacy and conservation work.
