About this shelter

Coastal Humane Society in Kill Devil Hills, NC

Coastal Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 humane society based in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, about 60 miles north of Virginia Beach, VA. Since 1997, it has helped more than 12,000 Outer Banks pets and their families by preserving the human-animal bond, offering emergency veterinary assistance, low-cost vaccination clinics, spay/neuter help, and pet food and supplies during hurricanes and other community emergencies. Rather than operating a traditional adoption shelter, its mission focuses on keeping pets and their owners together by helping families afford veterinary care during financial hardship. The organization is funded entirely by community donations and has earned GuideStar's 2025 Platinum Seal of Transparency.
