Yancey Humane Society in Burnsville, NC

Yancey Humane Society is a privately owned, nonprofit shelter located in Burnsville, North Carolina, roughly 70 miles south of Greenville, SC, and is not county owned or operated. Its mission is to provide shelter and care for homeless, injured, and neglected animals through adoption, community outreach, retention services, and educational programs, with a vision of companion animals living free of cruelty in a community that values them. The shelter does not have authority to investigate animal cruelty or pick up strays, instead directing such reports to local law enforcement, and it also runs a low-cost spay/neuter clinic that has altered hundreds of animals to help speed up adoptions. It is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12:00–5:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00–4:00 PM.
