About this shelter
Because We Matter Exotic Rescue in Anacortes, WA
Because We Matter Exotic Rescue is located in Anacortes, Washington, about 40 miles southeast of Everett. It operates as a USDA-licensed 501(c)3 rescue organization dedicated to rescue, education, and conservation, providing lifelong sanctuary on 10 acres of secluded forestland to exotic animals—including wolves, foxes, other world mammals, birds, and reptiles—that cannot be released back into the wild due to their pasts of abuse or captivity. The organization is not open to the public, but its animal ambassadors support wildlife education for thousands of youth through virtual programming. Its mission centers on protecting and preserving wildlife through compassionate rescue and impactful education, working toward a future where people and nature thrive in harmony.
