About this shelter

Somerset Animal Shelter in Skowhegan, ME

The Somerset Animal Shelter, doing business as the Somerset Humane Society, is a 501(c)3 no-kill shelter located in Skowhegan, Maine, about 45 miles east of Bangor. Its mission is dedicated to promoting compassion, preventing animal cruelty, and providing shelter and care for animals in need, striving to treat every animal with dignity, respect, and the highest quality of care. The shelter relies primarily on private donors rather than federal funding, is not affiliated with any other national humane organization, and provides temporary housing for stray, abandoned, and owner-surrendered pets from the many towns it serves, working to reunite lost pets with their owners and find suitable homes for cats, dogs, and small "pocket pets." It is open to the public Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday from 1:00–4:00 PM, and Thursday and Friday from 1:00–5:00 PM.
