About this shelter

Grammy Rose Dog Rescue & Sanctuary in Acton, ME

Grammy Rose Dog Rescue & Sanctuary is a dog rescue located in Acton, Maine, about 15 miles south of Rochester, NH, open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The rescue's mission is to save adoptable dogs from euthanasia and provide them quality care in a unique, homelike sanctuary setting while working to match them with forever families. It was inspired by the lives of Rose Kessler Wentworth ("Grammy Rose"), her husband Ralph Edward Wentworth ("Wicky Ralph"), and a rescue dog named Sammie, and sits on land stewarded by the Wentworth family since the American Revolution. The campus also includes a Welcome Center and a gift shop called Rose's Corner, with proceeds from both supporting the rescue's operations, and it has found homes for dogs since opening on July 19, 2021.
