About this shelter

CARES Clarksdale Animal Shelter in Clarksdale, MS

CARES Clarksdale Animal Shelter is a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter located in Clarksdale, Mississippi, about 60 miles northeast of Southaven, MS. Its mission is to improve animal welfare in the Mississippi Delta by providing a safe haven for animals in need, raising awareness about the joys of adopting shelter pets, and inspiring the community to take pride in its shelter pet population. Since relocating to a new facility in October 2017—ten times larger than its previous space—the shelter has offered indoor housing for every animal, adoption rooms, a kids' education space, a volunteer center, a medical suite, and a low-cost veterinary clinic. The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, welcoming visitors to adopt, foster, or support its mission of helping pet lovers keep the companions they cherish.
