About this shelter

Capital Animal Rescue and Environmental Foundation in Potomac, MD

Capital Animal Rescue and Environmental Foundation (C.A.R.E.) is a rescue organization based in Potomac, Maryland, about 5 miles northeast of Rockville, and is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Founded in 2009 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, C.A.R.E. works alongside other animal and environmental nonprofits to improve animals' lives, funding its efforts through animal boarding, dog behavioral training, and dog rehabilitation services. The organization fosters homeless dogs and cats, working to rehabilitate, socialize, and train each animal—including some international rescues from places like Taiwan and Kuwait—before placing them in forever homes with the support of dedicated volunteers and partner rescue groups. Its mission centers on helping shelters and rescues work efficiently to find homes for homeless animals while promoting a better environment through education.
