Pit Bull Happenings Rescue in Port Richey, FL

Pit Bull Happenings Rescue is a pit bull rescue based in Port Richey, Florida, located in Pasco County alongside 10 other animal shelters and rescues in the county, about 30 miles southeast of Tampa. The organization describes itself as an animal welfare group focused on leadership, education, rescue of the American Pit Bull Terrier and other dogs, community involvement, and awareness, working to return the "pit bull" label to its rightful owner, the American Pit Bull Terrier. Its primary objective is dog ownership retention, helping struggling owners keep their pets through assistance with food, daily care, or financial help for medical needs, and it works to reunite lost dogs labeled as strays with their owners before local county shelters can dispose of them. The rescue judges dogs by individual behavior and personality rather than visual breed identification, noting that such identification and even DNA testing are unreliable for confirming true American Pit Bull Terrier lineage.
