About this shelter

City of Liberty Animal Shelter in Liberty, TX

City of Liberty Animal Shelter is located in Liberty, Texas, about 40 miles southwest of Houston, and is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Saturday from 9:30 AM to 11:30 PM. Operated by the City of Liberty Animal Control Division, the shelter works to keep the community safe and healthy for both citizens and pets, enforcing animal-related state statutes and city ordinances, handling rabies control and quarantine, and investigating animal cruelty complaints. Animals held at the facility that remain unclaimed after seven days are made available for adoption, and adopters must sign a contract agreeing to have the pet spayed or neutered within 30 days. The shelter also runs a volunteer program called Pals of the Pound, in which approved volunteers help with dog walking, cat socialization, grooming, and fostering.
